Well, you guys were right... this new woodworking hobby simply costs more and more $$$! Today, I purchased the Craftsman Router and Router Table I've been looking at... err.. drooling over for days now...

Never-the-less, I will make good use of it for second wood working project -- the proto-type gun display case. I'm created the prototype out of particle board for my garage BB Guns and plan to craft the final product for my antique Kentucky Rifle & Pistol in solid Red Oak.

Below is the simple (but VERY accurate) jig I created for crafting the very strong ¼-inch box joints on the new table saw...

And, here is how the finger joints came out [on the proto type] after sawing -- very tight, strong and attractive (and I expect even better results on the firmer oak wood planned for the final product)...

Here is a top-view of the prototype layout [for my BB Guns] -- dry fitted (without glass, hinges and locking hasps) -- but, you get the idea of how this might look with the antique Kentucky Rifle & Pistol in Red Oak wood, with glass [actually, thick acrylic for security] , stain/oil and brass hardware. [including locks for additional security]..
